Digital work instructions
Digital work instructions for wire harness assembly
Harnessora generates on-screen digital work instructions for building the harness and routing wires on the formboard. The operator sees which connector to start at, which wire to route next, and where it lands — generated from the drawing rather than hand-copied from a print.
From drawing to instructions
The instructions derive from the same drawing as the formboard and the cut list. The connector positions match the formboard, and the wires match what preparation cut — because all three documents come from one source.
Illustrative example: instruction steps
From the illustrative example harness HAR-EX-101 (drawing rev B). A single wire — W1, a 20 AWG red 940 mm run from J1 position 1 to J2 position 1 — is shown as three concrete operator steps: place the housing, route the wire along the drawn path, then terminate it at each end. The remaining wires follow the same pattern in the drawn sequence. Example values only.

Illustrative example
-
Place housing J1 at its drawn position on the formboard.
-
Route wire W1 (20 AWG Red, 940 mm) from J1 position 1 to J2 position 1 along the drawn path.
-
Crimp W1 with the specified terminal and seat it into J1 position 1; repeat at J2 position 1.
-
Continue with wires W2 through W8 in the drawn sequence, terminating each at its drawn position.
Who uses it
Assembly operator
Builds the harness on screen, step by step: start connector, route, terminate — without reading a printed drawing for every wire.
Production manager
Knows the instructions the shop follows are generated from the same drawing the customer approved.
What the instructions are and are not
The instructions are the on-screen build sequence generated from the drawing: the operator sees which connector to place, which wire to route next, and where it lands. Shop-floor systems for barcode verification, MES completion tracking, and traveler tracking remain the shop’s own systems; this page does not claim those integrations.
